Before you start thinking about submitting
your application to the Play Store, you need to make sure that it's ready for
submission based on a few prerequisites. In this lesson,
you will review the submission process for your mobile application to the Play Store. The first thing to be certain of,
is that your application is finished or close to being finished. This is to make sure that the application
is successfully built with no errors. The best step to take in this situation,
is to test your application using an emulator or, even better,
test your application on a real device. This is because some parts of the
application can act slightly differently in an emulator as opposed
to an actual user's device. The next step is to ensure that you
have a Google Developer account, so that you can log into
the Google Play Console website. This is the website where everything
regarding the submission of your application will be handled. Your Google Developer account also needs
to be enrolled into the Google Developer program. There is a one time fee payable
which you pay when you publish your first application. After this, all the apps you
publish on Google Play Store for Android are cost free. You don't need to purchase anything
while your application is in the development phase. You can wait once your application
is close to being finished or is ready for the submission to actually
pay for the Google Developer program. Each app is signed by
a developer certificate. You can create unique certificates which
will be used to sign your app bundle for distribution. Another key thing to do before
submitting your application, is to review the Google Play
store guidelines. This is where Google created certain
rules about how the application should be designed. And it goes deep into every aspect of
the application, from the design to user privacy and safety, application,
performance, and other important topics. Once all the steps are complete, you are ready to proceed
with the submission process. To submit the application to the Google
Play Store the application bundle file needs to be generated
in Android Studio, and the separate application needs to be
created in the Google Developer Console. Let's find about how to
create the bundle first. In Android Studio, open the Build menu and
select Generate Signed Bundle or APK. Select Android App Bundle and click Next. Then select or create New Keystore. Select Release and press Finish. A file with an AAB extension will be
generated in the app release folder. So the bundle has been taken care of. Next, let's move on to
creating the application in the Google Developer Console. Start by going to the Google Play Console
website. Then in the Menu,
go to the All Applications tab. You will see an option,
Create Application. Click it. Enter the application's name and select the its default
language from the drop down menu. Choose Application and select Free. Check the declaration boxes and
click on, Create. Great, you're almost there. Let's go over the last few steps
to get your app across the line. Now, you need to upload the app
bundle to the newly created app section in the Google Play Console. To do this, first go to
the Google Play Console website. Here, navigate to Production and
click Create new release, then upload the generated AAB file. Click on Save,
then click on Review release, and finally click on Start
roll out to production. Now your app will be sent for review. After the approval, your app will
be live on the Google Play Store. And that covers the Google Play
store submission process. As you can see, similar to the development
of your app, the main thing is ensuring you have identified and fixed any
bugs in your app before submission. You are well on your way to submitting
your own app to the Google Play Store.
